A Shortform Poem about Autumn - 150 Words

Raking Autumn Leaves Gifts >>

They call it fall in the US of A,
and for once,
their word choice makes sense

Leaves depart trees,
with autumnal breeze,
fluttering down with intent

What once was so new,
flourished and grew,
is laid to rest gently on Earth

With Winter ahead,
and Nature abed,
it is time to consider our worth

Will we rise again,
like the birch and the plane,
as buds reappear in the Spring

Or will this prove to be,
our last destiny,
like the fallen who turn to nothing

If it were to end,
my Natural friend,
I was honored to be among you

For all that man does,
we learn little because,
it’s the trees that refresh anew

Our plots and schemes,
our hopes and dreams,
are but moments in this world of ours

So treasure the fall,
the wonder of all,
and look forward to fresh Spring flowers.
