Wasgij Review
Also could be called In Praise Of Wasgij, this is a personal review of my puzzling journey.
Like many people, I started puzzling during Covid lockdowns. Found a few untouched and unloved puzzles in the games cupboard and, having exhausted every other thing to do, tried a puzzle. It was surprisingly good fun. Did another, and rapidly completed all the puzzles in the house.
Bought more puzzles from charity shops and eBay. Discovered which ones were fun and which were less fun. Pictures of horses, dogs and country cottages were particularly disappointing. Some were too easy, some too hard.
Learned names of puzzles to trust and avoid. Those from the major toy manufacturers and W H Smith were less good than the specialists. Learned the way they cut the puzzle. Some have unique pieces like House of Puzzles. Old Springbok quality puzzles were a treat. Did puzzles by Ravensburger, Waddingtons, Bits and Pieces. Catalogued puzzle experience, times and notes in a spreadsheet.
After fifty or so puzzles did first Wasgij which had arrived in a job lot from eBay. It was so exciting when compared to the others. Absolutely addictive, tricky and great fun. Had some late nights finishing puzzles!
Did a few other puzzles after that first Wasgij because they had already been purchased, but they didn't have whatever Wasgij has got.
Since those first fifty puzzles have only done Wasgij. Over twenty puzzles so far and enjoyed nearly every one. Even bought the occasional new one as a treat. It avoids the perils of missing pieces or lifted edges which come with secondhand.
That's my recommendation through experience. I love 'em!
